Solid performance at Spa

Giedo van der Garde scored a fifth place in both races at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. In the World Series by Renault races the Victory Engineering driver was close to a podium finish but an overheated engine slowed him down.

Giedo van der Garde: “It was a bit of a boring race really. I started fifth and finished fifth so I didn’t win or lose any positions. I had a pretty good start and was leading the race if I wasn’t pushed in the dirt and thus falling back to a third position.

“Because I was pushed off track for a moment there was dirt on my sidepots and thus the engine didn’t get cooled properly and was overheating. It made the engine less fast and thus I was losing positions unfortunately. I got overtaken by two men.”
