Giedo van der Garde enjoyed a steady start at the Estoril track in Portugal on Friday. The Dutchman set the eleventh time in the morning, but in the afternoon the Victory Engineering driver set the third fastest time and looks comfortable for a good result in Saturday's qualifying session.

“With our used tyres we were reasonably fast this morning,” van der Garde commented. “Our new didn't do too well really while the track was cold and slippery. We had a lack of grip so I didn't get much further than eleventh in the mroning. In the afternoon temperatures went up and there was more grip on track. I'm happy obviously with third but we will have to try and find out why we weren't going as fast as we were hoping for on a new set of tyres.”
